Report:
Yes folks he's back...due to popular demand the THJ shore fishing report system is back on site.
A fresh start of 5.30 am on Friday to head off to Tralee via Thurles for work with me father. Sausage rolls eaten, blocks lifted, tea drunk and wages recieved, we were en route to Meadowlands Hotel, Oakpark, Tralee. We were well prepared and looking forward to fishing down in the Whest. A nice steak and chip and we were ready for the bed

SATURDAY MORNING INCH STRAND PEG 12

Struggling over the lanes of Kerry in the Peugeot two seater we reached a cold, rainy and windy beach. Conditions were set to worsen but nevertheless it was fishable. I was ready. I waded out checked that the bar was up line held by finger but I could smell a problem...Snap. The line snaps. First problem of the day. With that done I was back fishing in the empty sea. That wasnt the only problem. My scissors snapped, I lost seven of my rigs, my reel got tangled so I had to cast out again, I got caught in the lad beside me. They were the least of my worries because I was not catching fish. Bad result with a horrible and painstaking four hours

SESSION 2 ROSS BEIGH PEG 16

A nice bit of grub in Bunkers of Killorglin over the All Ireland Club Football Semi Finals and then headed over to Ross Beigh. Started off great getting flounder going and then later a rockling. really got back in form after the bad result in the morning. Got a few late teen cm rockling in the late hours of the session. Overall three over size and five undersize fish with 151 fish points. Good result and a few traces tyed gave us a late bedtime.

SESSION 3 INCH FISHING DESTROYS PEOPLES MINDS

Inch Strand must now be my most unlucky beach first cast things are looking great. Rod is hammering to the earths core and back. Pick it up reel in and I have a moment of utopia as a flat breaks the wave flittering I can smell the thirty centimetre mark off it just what I need to stay in it hes still beating the rod and then to add to the joy a twenty four cm flat on bottom hook...I lift it and the fish drops off....I was fit to throw the rod into the sea. its not often on a bad day that you see a lad with a fish cursing left right and centre. next cast things are on the up with another bite. i reel in caughter the other fella but thought all was ok because I had a fish but I wasnt the only one. Had a hook caught in the mouth and so did the other man on peg 3 coincedentally who won it out. No we didnt cut it in half....with resent i threw it back not counting. Thatwas it no more fish. the shame. I still have not got over it. The more Thinking of it the more it annoys me. the positive of the weekend is that I qualify for next years interprovs in Leinster. Home advantage lads I will relish the chance to qualify. well done to the team for the home nations. Conor from kilmore should be a great asset to that team along with the munster folk. best of luck lads and well done to all twas a great Weekend oh ya and one more thing WHERE ARE THE RESULTS I have no idea where I finished.

A big thank you to Eamonn the Leinster Youth Officer, Joe Byrne of Courtown Angling Centre and The stewards for their help.
Fisherman's prayer:
God grant that I may live to fish, For another rainy day.
But when my final cast is made, I then most humbly pray.
When nestled in your landing net, As I lay peacefully asleep.
You'll smile at me and judge, That I'm "good enough to keep"!

well young man give yourself a big pat on the back.not just for sticking it out.but for been man enough. to realize the errors you might have made.we all get days when things go wrong.and it would have been easier to say the hell with this and go back to the car.but having read all your reports from last season i know your very determined to finish everything you put your mind to.i also admire your manners in thanking everyone involved with the comp.as very few anglers give stewards or organizers a second thought on the day.again well done micheal im sure your dad is very proud of you no matter what place you finished .with the attitude you have and your quest for knowledge im sure it wont be long before we see your name in the winners circle in the near future 8) 8) 8) keep up the good work .i also have to add your report was excellent with great detai,l must remember to try and do my own reports they way you done yours.great to see you back on the site maybe the old man might make an appearence soon

Good to see you sticking with Michael. We'll have to meet up in the summer for a session. I'll let you test the beaches first though;)

Great report THJ  ,,,,hats off to you. The comps arent my cup of tea but I always enjoy reading the reports , and you've a great knack of making them interesting and humourous , with plenty of fishing details of course  Well done on your result wherever you finished

fair play for putting up the report, i had a chuckle at your missfortune of the shared flounder, never heard of that before   ,
it would be good if other forum members who also fished it could chip in with their own reports of the weekend. this was done for the jimmy smith last year and made good reading.
