Waterfoot,Antrim,11/2/12

People:Myself,Rocket and Stevie

Duration:7pm-1am

Tide:Full flood

Weather:Still and mild

Bait:rag, lug, maddies, squid, mack etc etc. (mostly left overs from Kilmuckridge open last wk)

Rigs:3 hk flappin, clipped, milenium and big dirty 6/0 pulleys.

Results: Plague of whiting, some ok codling and coalie, a plaice, a ling and my first eel of 2012.

After a club weekend away fishing Kilmuckridge sac open last weekend, myself and a couple of the lads decided to get back to our roots and do a bit of rock angling near waterfoot (deep water/cleanish ground). The first couple of hrs was like wexford all over again, 3 whiting a chuck regardless of bait or hook size! However, as the tide pushed in we started getting the odd better whiting as well as some nice coalie and codling (30 cm plus). Stevie also managed to get a wee ling and the first plaice of the year I've seen, which come Spring time is the target speices off this mark. Getting a bit fed up with the "scratchiness" of the whole evening, I decide to stick on a conger rig with a live baited whiting. Half an hour later I had a lovely battle with a 10lb conger caught over clean ground on an outfit I usually use for flatty bashing. All in all, it wasnt a bad auld night considering its Febuary and we're stuck up here in Co. Antrim!
I had a 2lb wrasse off the white rocks (Glenarm) in January, coupled with plaice and conger last night, maybe we're in for an early spring and a productive summer? Sorry no pics, I've gave up on that game. (technology and me just dont get on)
