Duration: 3 1/2 hrs
Tide: arrived 2 hrs before low
Weather: scorchio
Bait: Fly ( Hugh falkus sunk lure), spinners, sandeel
Rigs:
Results: 1 Seatrout just over 3 lb
My dad and bro were down for the weekend, and what an awesome day they got!, like summer in february absolutely beautiful. got them set up with spinning gear, and chucked the bait rod out, before setting up the fly rod - spotted a nice little rocky weedy point sticking out into the sea that looked like a perfect spot for a seatout to be sitting in ambush.
Fourth or fifth cast and Wallop! cracking seatout and a hell of a fight. weighted in at just over 3lb,
the lads hammered away with spinners but no joy and the bait rod was untouched.
Just before we left I missed another crackin trout, who turned away just as i was lifting the fly from the water, similar sized fish to the one i caught.
Great start to the season, and a great mark I will definitly be visiting again -)

cheers for all the relies folks. certainly a great buzz, and a real encouragement to do a bit more fly fishing this year - the fight on the light gear is something else! fairly gets the heart pumping!

I had another go for them today, with no joy, but picked up a smaller fish during the week, nice to be getting afew this early - and as an added bonus both were on flies i had tied myself
looking forward to a lot more SWFF this year...come summer i might even have another go at the mullet!!

Lovely trout there and another through the week, youre on to something! Love that fly myself, great lure to have on, tied by yourself even better.
