Donegal Beach Mark in the Fog!! Feburary 6th 2012

#1 Post by FisherKing »

People: Myself

Duration: 4 Hours

Tide: Stranding & Filling

Weather: very Foggy with Drizzle & warm!!

Bait: Frozen Lug & Mack

Rigs: One up one down flappers

Results: 6 Flounder & 1 Turbot

Report:
As I’m helping a friend do a few jobs on a vintage car in Donegal I usually get a chance to get on to one of the beaches for a few hours so armed with frozen lug & mackerel I made my way to a beach That I wanted to try for a while.
On arrival there was a thick fog setting in by the time I was set up & the first casts out the fog was very thick it was hard to spot the odd walker & there dog until they were almost beside you  first half an hour was quiet until the turn of the tide then the Flounder were on the feed coming in ones every couple of casts then a my first double of Flounder followed by a double of Flounder & a lovely Turbot on the bottom hook happy days first one of the year 8) the fishing slowed just after two hours after the turn of the tide with just one more Flounder showing so packed up the gear & headed for a feed...

Nice turbot mate. The species comp is going to be tough to win. Need to get a turbot to add to mine. I got the coalies and whiting Sunday night wanted to get them before they were gone. The species hunt adds a good edge to the fishing trips. I'm sure it won't be long till you have a wrasse on your list.
