Report:we were fed up catching tiddlers on the north east so decided to venture down south for some real fish. :D 3 hour 25 minute drive later and we were in youghal, not knowing the area at all  we settled for the main beach up at the car park and had first casts in the water for 6 o clock 1 with crab at distance and 1 with rag and razor at moderate distance.everthing was quiet for the first hour with the baits coming in untouched.i then got a bite on the distance rod and struck into what seemed like a good fish but as i was reeling in the reel broke  after some time messing with it finally got the line back in minus whatever had taken the bait  i changed to the spare reel and cast out again .the other road started to dance to a familiar rhythm and sure enough in came a woof woof...jammie still had not had a tap on his rod..then my distance rod doubled over ..i picked it up and struck hard only to realise i had'nt tightened the drag on the new reel  massive birds nest.another dog on the other rod and at 8 o clock we headed for ferrypoint(cause we were told that it fishes better on the drop)..first casts at ferrypoint and the baits were coming back stripped then jammie got a small codling and that was it for the night the weed became to much in the main channel  so we moved around the corner. had two decent bites here but could'nt connect so packed up, disappointed, and headed for home........the dogs took the razor the cod the crab and the rag was untouched all night.
