all nighter youghal 23/1/12

People:me & james (mate)

Duration:12.30am-8..30am

Tide:h.w 5am

Weather:great

Bait:fresh crab,lug,razor,mussel,& graper clam

Rigs:pennel & flappers

Results: cod,whiting,coalie,painted ray




Report:
just a quick report i have not got time to go into detail but we had a good nights fishing we arrived at 10 pm and new that there would not be any water in front of us so we went for a pint or 5 in maggie mays up in the town great little pub with friendly locals and great beer went back to the mark for 12 but there was still not enough water in front of us so set up the rods and had some grub that brang us up to 12.30 so the line went out and for the first hour came back with a stone of weed but it soon eased and the fish came on with us both geting fish and this was the way the night went james would get 1 and then me and so on best fish of the night was a painted ray of 11lb got by james with sandeel witch he got froms a cods mouth most of the cod were between 2-3lb with a couple of small coalies and a half desent whiting 33cm i would have taken more photos but the batterys went all in all a good nights fishing i think this might be my last trip south for awhile but you never know

Alan mate

Well what can I say the ray is a cracker love the last pic good presentation of some fish..... Aws the ray caught on the rise or on the drop?? Yea dont think I will be down that way for a while either. :o Glad you had a great nite fishing and a couple of beers before hand.... Did you stay on the bandstand all nite.... Guess the freezer is full now for the next few days. How many cod did you get, was there as much weed as what was there on Saturday..

Will buz you during the week and see if we can head out. By the way I cant make Saturday M8

yes to both quistions they taste much the same as thornback saying that i only had the back bone james took the wings for himself

great fishing lads lovely ray, do you know 10lb is a specimen, did you weigh it on a certafied scales.

thanks john i dont know if he has the scales certafied but i if its not i dont think it would be a pound or so out he use to fish a lot of comps and used the same scales so i would say it spot on
