Youghal 21/1/2012
A beautiful day, and the trip to Youghal was finally here, All week we were talking about it, thinking of rigs and traces.. Orginalsin arrived late for the pick-up because he decided to go the scenic route through Finglas so this started the crack in the car…and yes the lads brought up if I planned on blanking this session in Youghal as well ..

We got down to the mark many locals told us about on the phones during the week, crab was source from the man himself (thanks John!!) BY THE WAY: I was asked to ask John if he delivers peelers to Dublin as the lads up this way are starving for them

We got the gear set-up and our marks organised, the sun was shinning and the wind was just a slight breeze on our backs and nothing more, the sea was discoloured and looking very promising! Best baits prepared for the evening rise, and lower baits sent out looking for what fish were to be had..
Kids had gathered around asking if the could take photos of us fishin,

Tighlines soon followed up with a Coalie, I sent out my smallest rod in search of a flattie (I do love me Flats!) and a nice wee coalie for me, Poor Sparks seemed to be in search of the weed as a few cast we had some, just before dusk Tightlines got to cookin up sausages and bacon well done mate, tasty!!
As dusk approached and our bellies full out came the lights and best baits in the hope of a few codling, but the weed made life hard

So a little later as the tide was falling we made the plan to head to Ferry point. But first checking a couple of other marks for the future. Arrived at Ferrypoint on the fall of the tide I found it hard to hold bottom, 6oz wasn’t much of a match with the current running through, but as it slackened I finally found bottom, and the lads were into the cod, Try as I might, my hooks could not find a cod, kept the baits fresh, the lines tight and different ranges but still could not put my bait in front of the nose of a cod, So like Tightlines making Youghal his second home, I am now determined to get myself a Youghal Cod this year! I may catch a cod in another part of the country BUT I want a Youghal Cod!! All in All yet another great trip, the banter is always great, and it was lovely meeting Ray from the site as well hope you bagged a few more mate!!!
Well final got my new Beach buddy Christen on this trip the new Cod Cabin
