Bite Alert Tip Lights
Has anybody else used the new bite alert tip lights?
I bought a pair of them a while and due to weather , work etc hadn't had much of a chance to try them out. The 2 times I tried them before christmas we never caught any fish to see if they worked but was out on friday night passed with my mate for a few hours and caught 2 flatties but the bite lights didnt indicate a fish at all. Was only the rod tip jumping about told me.
Has any one else tried them ? If so did they work? I followed the instructions on where to place them but nothing.....
Just wondering if anyone else has had more luck with them.
Thanks Nial

Re: Bite Alert Tip Lights
i went the cheap route and bought cheap knock off ones from china....they are supposed to stay a steady green and then when you get a bite flash red...yeah right..they flash green and red, they wreck my eyes looking at a flashing green light.they worked perfectly on the rod doing a "dry" run in the back yard, but when they were used for real they would not flash red with a bite....ah well i'm glad i didn't buy them from England at their prices ....got 3 sent from china postage paid for e9 so no big monetary loss

I got some free with rigs i bought, and flashed on and off????
how can i see with that?
My other half also had the red clip you tape on your rod to clip a light on but found he caught his line on it sometimes

Re: Bite Alert Tip Lights
I'm just concerned that they will entice a plane to land in on top of us.
We both fish with two rods each on double head tripods and they could be mistaken for landing lights
Put them in the box big lad, back to the tried and trusted

Myself and tightlines where down at green park in youghal last week in a strong wind and another angler had one of the new rod tips on and it was flashing fish on( and he got them in the states on xmas hols ) with the wave action and every time the tripod went over or moved in the wind it would indicate a fish on..... So IMHO i wouldnt go need them get a tip light and watch......

Re: Bite Alert Tip Lights
lads get yourself a good headlamp and put some high viz tape on your rod tips as these light tips are going to effect a rod tips performance and also can lead to line wrap resulting in a tip breakage

Re: Bite Alert Tip Lights
I'd second that,I had a line wrap on a starlight holder that was whipped on the tip and snapped it in half . Was a miracle i didn't snap the tipzziplex wrote:lads get yourself a good headlamp and put some high viz tape on your rod tips as these light tips are going to effect a rod tips performance and also can lead to line wrap resulting in a tip breakage
