Greystones Harbour, 15th jan

People:me and Neil

Duration:4-30pm-9pm

Tide:dropping

Weather:cold but dry

Bait:lug, squid and mack,

Rigs:2 hook flappers

Results: 5 beard rockling, shore rockling and pollock





Report:After reading Sparkiemarks report I was curious to see how bad the place was so headed out with Fishface. Happily there was no rubbish to be seen but the lights were smashed. I was surprised that the glass was so thin on them as I would have thought that somebody might forsee that this could happen :roll: . There again, I cant understand why bus shelters are glass either :roll: . the fishing was fairly slow, we got a half dozen rockling each before Fishface got a nice pollock , 34cms. A few hail mary's later and I had a better one at 36cms to shut him up.It was bitterly cold but this is where the survival suits make the fishing bearable,,,,,,,,,,,roll on the summer though :lol: Mack is best her eand accounted for most of the fish. Got acquainted with a nice bloke who had bought his son a rod, but has got bitten by the bug himself, he was full of praise for the guys he met on the harbour who gave him advice.

well done boys good fishing glad to here there was no rubbish left lieing around did you bring that bin bag with you just in case :x :x

Hi, have had a few fish off there, 41cm coalie, 44 cm coalie, cod over the measure around the 4 lb mark ?! Did the father and son get fish ?hope so... Was chatting to them being beforehand i think in the fishing shop. Regards the lights being broken is down to idiots, young idiots at that ,who do
nt understand the word respect,,,,,,yet ! also a few of e life buoys went missing ??? Regards the bait on the harbour wall it looks bad because of the way the top bright slanted rocks show the blood stains but something could be organised there to help with that, but would that last long there! ch opping board / bin. Any how nice to see several species showing and holding around the harbour, should be an interesting few months........

i always have a few bin bags,,,,,just in case by some miracle I actually catch some pan sized cod :lol:

Hello Boycie Senior, I've seen some decent fish caught there, which keeps bringing me back :roll: I agree with everything you say,, had a word with some young lads a while ago who were throwing stones at the lights in the car park,,,,complete idiots!! I did my usual act of pretending to be on the phone to Sergeant Mc Gillycuddy and they legged it. The father was on his own,,,,he had gone shopping and couldnt resist having a chuck :lol: . He caught a pollock. To be honest I advised him that maybe January is not the best month to try to get a young lad into the fishing,,,,,,Wicklow Harbour in the summer would be better as the kid would be getting constant bites from small fish. :lol: Getting frostbite in January mightnt be the best start to his angling career :shock:
