#1 Post by steol5589 »

Just wondering if anyone has ever used one of these nets before.I fish a rock mark in the summer and shoals of sandeel swim right beside the rocks.Just wondering if these would net them.Any opinions? http://www.castnets.co.uk/cast-nets

Fairly tricky piece of kit these, used one off a boat before for sand eels. You literally have to be right over the shoal but if you get along side and you cast nice and wide, they work a treat! You tube has plenty of demo vids but be prepared for a few evenings practice in the back garden! Great fun :D :D

I have never tried them but it has been on my mind for a long while . Unfortunately I suspect that they are illegal in ROI because the regs clearly state that the only permissible form of fishing is with rod and line ( presumably unless you have a licence to net ) .
Does anyone know ?
Cheers .

Ireland have a zero Quota for sandeel, they are not non quota. Just FYI.
UP THE DEISE!!!!!!!

If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

So that's the answer ! Many thanks .
So presumably all non-quota fish are legally fair game ? I'm thinking of whitebait/sprats .
Sorry to sidetrack your thread , steol 5589, but hope this is of interest to you too .
Cheers .
