west waterford session 12 jan 12

#1 Post by beachbuddy »

People:myself and seanie35

Duration:7 til 10ish

Tide:hw 7.30

Weather:balmy

Bait:frozen crab razor and a few lug

Rigs:scratching rigs

Results:coalies bass and flounder

Report:Just a short report from last night.Had toyed with the idea of fishing a local mark last night but for once i left my head rule over my heart so headed into deise land to a handy mark.Had a chat with seanie 35 earlier in the day and a plan was hatched to try for a bass, just for a change from the codling.
Arrived at the mark just before hw and straight away the coalies were showing interest in the small razorfish offerings on the scratching rigs and ball leads. Then as if by magic a classic slackliner, yes bass duct for 2012 broken a nice lively fella around 38cm.Then Seanie got a right good take on his frozen crab  [my first time seeing a bass take frozen crab now mentally logged],after a nice fight a nice fish around the 2.5lb mark was safely ashore.Happy days the silver fellas were about.
A short time later another bass around 40cm came to myself. For the next hour the rods rattled away with coalies around the 30cm mark and little flounder. It was lovely to get in amongst them, yes they were very small but great to see a few showing and hopefully this mark will get better as the year goes on and its where i'll be doing most of my bassing the coming months as i reckon the bassing could be quite slow on some of the local beaches back here in east cork for a while   .
Absolutely lovely easy session with the weather and once the moon showed it was paradise, not to mention the company, thanks Seanie and hope my rig will catch you a few in the next while 8) .Had hoped to upload a few photos but as the man says [watch this space].
Oh all fish were returned safe and sound to fight another day.
Tight lines
