some feckin place

#1 Post by Tofish »

People:me and mate

Duration:1930..2300

Tide:incoming

Weather:very mild

Bait:rag

Rigs:

Results:whiting flounder

an unplanned session ....james knocked up to me at 1730 to see if i was interested in trying a relatively local beach....beats tuesday nights tv i thought...so straight out the door and see if we can get some bait...went to a local spot to dig some worms under the power of headlamps ...not a lug to be found and with the tide turning we moved to somewhere we knew there would be rag...half an hour digging and we had enough for a few hours so off straight away to termonfeckin....only fished this spot once before and the flow of the river had changed completely moving northwards by about 500 meters...we set up where it entered the sea and cast out ..lots of little knocks for first half hour but no hook ups then james had a small flounder...then it was whiting after whiting all very small...a few small flounder followed ...then as the tide started to fill we got some bigger flounder but no monsters biggest about 28 cm...we ran out of worms before full tide when the fish seemed to be getting bigger...so maybe next time we leave it till a bit later stage of the tide .....usual northeast fair but at least it was'nt a blank

Excellent news there... was in laytown with lug over the weekend and helping out in a mini comp... most of the lads were using lug and mac.. and yep they were catching small flats and pin whitting not in any great numbers mind you, Bro in law fishes termonfeckin and finds it useful towards the last few hours of HW and on the turn, It be really nice to see North Dublin beaches start to fish well again, was reading a report from the fisheries boards sometime back, and it had in it that a good few specimens of flats used to be found off the Irish East Coast in the 80's, I'd love for those days to return... Imagine heading out for a two hour session and coming back with a couple of cracker flats ... hmmmmmm

the reports I've read from Gormanstown as of late has been brutal :( has anyone tried it latley?? On sunday I notice 3 motorbikes and one car ripping up and down that side of the beach area... (first thing I thought was...great not only do you have to look out for bait thieving dogs, but also traffic!!)

Kev M8 i wouldn't call a few tiny flounder and plenty of pin witings a good fishing beach as we know most of the Northside beaches have been and are CRAP and that's the way it will be Pity as it would save a lot on juice
