Co Down Beach Fishing 02/01/12

#1 Post by Drew »

People: Dan and I

Duration: 7.30 - 10.30pm

Tide: Dropping

Weather: Blustery and Cold

Bait: Mackeral, Rag, Lug, Black Lug

Rigs: Clean beach gear

Results:

Dan - 2 Flounder and a Load of Whiting
Me - Bloody whitings!

Report:

Out again tonight for our 3rd session of the year, fished a dropping tide on a local beach, not ideal for flounders but we were hopeful of a few to add another species.

It was apparant from the off however that the whiting were out in force, and as we ploughed our way through the little blighters it would be diffilcult for anything else to find the bait, Dan however did manage 2 flounders along with the Whiting bringing him up to 6 species for the year.

Some of the whiting were in the mid 20's and would have been handy match fish, Will have to get out again soon to pick up my own flounder for the year!
2015 Lure: Pollack, Herring, Whiting, Sand Goby, Poor Cod, Pouting

you love those whiting man
it might be worth using one of them as bait on a 3/0 pennel pulley and hammer it out at range. with so many of those wee guys knocking about there has gotta be something bigger out there feeding on them man  :P
