Results:whiting dab and rockling

was going to try morriscastle or tinebearna but after a quick stop in courtown angling centre we were told that all the local beaches were fishing well..joe was out earlier and had caught codling whitng and decent sized flats...so we decided not to venture too far.tried roney point first but we were blown off the beach so after an hour or so and only 1 small whiting we moved to the north beach in courtown..there was some shelter here from the trees but still the rod tip was bouncing all over the place..fishing eas very slow with nothing for the first hour then we got a run of small whiting for about half an hour or so.nothing for another hour then a small dab and a rockling about 8'' .two other lads arrived and said they were on morriscastle and got blown off it so glad we did'nt go any further after all.there was nothing much happening on any of the rods so we packed up at ten and left the other lads to fish the drop..which they reckoned was better than the rise on this beach...all in all a dissapointing session but at least it was'nt a blank....Happy new year ....Tony

Tis the Season of howlin winds :( a method i use to try and read the tips better is set the tripod really low with the wind blowing up the rods as well, at times it mean the rods lenghts could be parallel to the beach.. a little heavier on the weights, and I understand Braid has serious advantages in conditions like those, being thinner the braid doesn't bow as easy as mono....either way though its a pain in the backside :( Well done on the fish you got in tough conditions... and Many happy returns for the New Year
