Ennereilly 21/11/11

#1 Post by Al »

People:Myself and Gar

Duration:19:45 - 22:15

Tide:

Weather:lIGHT WESTERLIES

Bait:Frozen crab, sandeel, mac, razor and mussel

Rigs:2 hook loop rigs

Results:Doggies, One small huss, whiting, rockling and small flounder

Report:Decided to head out to Ennereilly south beach so I could keep an eye on the car,as there have been reports of windows being smashed around the area :(
Just out for a few hours as I haven't been doing too much fishing recently and thought that with the mild weather and flat sea's there would be a chance of maybe a few doggies.
First cast in the water about 5 mins and rod started rattling and brought in a doggie happy days. Gar was fishing in closer hoping for a coalie or a rouge Bass but all he was managing were a few whiting and small rockling. We had fish a cast from start to finish and getting bites pretty quickly. I was catching all fish on sandeel and Mac, with the crab, mussel and razor not getting a touch, while Gar was picking up his fish in close on frozen blacks tipped with MAC. Had a small huss halfway through the session which was nice, only a little bigger than the doggies but a nice change all the same. Also caught a dog with a whiting stuffed into his mouth, thought he was just greedy and not letting go but it turns out they were both hooked with the same hook
Not a bad session for about 2.5 hrs. Ended up with 6 dogs,1 huss and a few whiting, Gar had about 5 whiting, 2 rockling and a flounder.
There were a few lads fishing when we got there but they left about half an hour after got there not sure how they got on though!

Cheers lads, yeah was grand session! We only had a short one cause one of the lads was with us but wasn't fishing! All the fish were at distance and if the dogs weren't there it would have been slow!
Glad they were around though

Well done on the fishing al, that picture is a great snap. We had the same 2 weeks ago with my mate pulling in a doggy which had eating his pin whiting and got himself hooked

I was there monday aswell from 11ish till 4, I ended up with 7 flats, plaice, flounder and dab also had a whiting and a doggy, the biggest flat being 30cm. I was there looking for a stray schoolie fishing low water and the turn. Was a beautiful day, with the sun beaming down on me and the temps staying about 14 degrees.

It's not amazing fishing but let's face it, getting out and getting a few species is better than staying in and watching tv.
Species 2011:coalie,whiting, 5bearded rockling,shore rockling, doggie, pollock,flounder,codling,dab,smoothhound,sea scorpion,ballan wrasse,Tope, tub gurnard, gray gurnard,plaice,bass,Bullhuss,cod

Species 2012:coalie,doggie,codling,shore and 5bearded rockling,3bearded rockling,pouting,whiting,wrasse,bass,plaice,flounder,dab,smoothhound,hiss,tope,cod,tub and gray gurnard,Pollack

Species 2013:Double figure smoothy off the beach, doggie, gray gurnard, codling, goalie, flounder, plaice, whiting, tope. Double figure huss off the beach, dab, bass, pouting, silver eel.
