man rescued from waters north of Kilkee has died in hospital

A man who was earlier rescued after his dingy capsized off the Co Clare coast has died in hospital.

A man rescued from waters north of Kilkee, Co Clare this afternoon has died in hospital.
An alert was raised at around 2pm today after the man fell into the water when his dinghy capsized.

Kilkee coastguard and a Shannon-based helicopter responded to the alert and he was airlifted to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Co Limerick, where he later died.

Again, let this incident be a warning to all - the sea takes no prisoners!
RIP and condolences to his family.

I want to say a big thank you to Bill Ryan who was the person seeing the man in trouble and alarming the rescue services.
Bill tried his very best to encourage the man to cling on to his dinghy and shouted to him that help is on the way. Unfortunately the man lost his fight for life.
Hats off to you Bill! You are a true Gentleman!

Yesterday at a Funeral Service in Kilrush I finally held the hand of the man I could not reach a few days ago. I passed on all your condolences to his widow. She and I will have a chat another day.
Again thank you all for your kind words.
