Close encounters of the tope kind?

#1 Post by liamemac »

People:me

Duration:3 hrs

Tide:2 hrs of the rise 1 of the fall

Weather:mild SW, dry

Bait:crab/razor

Rigs:2 hook flapper

Results:1 coalie, tope?

Report:Fished greystones today on the rocks to the right of the new pier. Had a nice coalie about a pound and a half, then all quiet, so moved to the small pier with the steps just down from the main road. Last cast of the session, bait in the water about 5 mins when the rod goes bouncing out of the stand  and starts dancing a jig on the ground, heart racing picked it up and connected to a fish then bang, dead line, not even my trace left on the end  :? Packed up the gear slightly bemused....

Called a friend who is a far more experience angler and his guess was tope, whatever it was it was certainly exciting and left me wanting more more more :D
Keepin' it reel

2010: 9 mackerel, 2 pollack, 10 bass, 1 coalie, 1 codling
