probably only need the 80lb shock if its really abrasive on the retrieve or if you have to lift / trail fish up the rocks to get them in, any kind of a knot in the line will be a weak point if you have top pull for a break so the less the better. 30lb might be a better option straight through incase there is a bit of tide running it will catch it less in deep water.
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!

We'll just have to pray for the weather to be kind ! we fished in border line conditions yesterday ,the rocks were treacherous and the swell ended up pretty bad as well .and this was a small tide .
It might also be an idea to meet in ballycastle carpark so that the people who make the effort to turn up know were theplace is rather than give directions and lose people on the way .

its def a good idea to meet in the carpark,it also means that only the people who are serious about going to this meet will find out where it is.myself and ronald put in alot of time and effort into finding this mark and how/when it fishes best and although we dont mind sharing this mark with other anglers there seems to be a couple who just want to know where it is and have no intentions of attending.meeting in the carpark will prove who is not pulling a fast one.99 percent of everyone interested contributes alot to this site and they are the people who are welcome to join us.
i`ll get off my soap box now and finish off with time and place to meet up
ballycastle carpark at 8am(the one beside the marina)
sunday 26th march
