Wrecking North of Tory - Sunday

#1 Post by Tanglerat »

M&I SAC has got wind of an uncharted wreck about 20 miles north of Tory Island in about 300 feet of water. It was found by a local crabber who kept losing gear on it. For the fun of it, he netted it and hauled up some impressive pollock. We've chartered one of our usual angling boats and are trying to persuade him to come along to lead us right onto the top of it. If he can't make it, we'll still have the GPS numbers for it to guide us there.

The wind forecast for the weekend is looking pretty great at this stage.

It'll be an exploration, a chance to fish a wreck that's never seen a hook and line before.

Because it's all happening at short notice, there's a chance of a couple of spaces on the boat for guest anglers.

Anyone here interested?

Boat will be the Carmel Olivia, currently in Bunbeg but we'll probably leave out of Magheraroarty because that'll be a shorter run out. Steaming time estimated at 2 to 2 1/2 hours!

Dunno the cost yet, that'll depend on how much fuel the skipper burns on the day. We're looking for a max crew of eight to ensure enough elbow room for everybody.
