Report: Tried Gormanston Beach last night, poor selection of poor quality baits as I didn't have a chance to go digging!
Got one rod-renching bite which was surprising as there was bearly a wave on the water. Picked up the rod but it was gone... I'd say it was a Bass by the bite.
Gonna have to try again tonight....

What part of the beach were ye fishing,ive had a few of those mysterious bites in the laytown gormanston area they never seem to come back a second time
,wud love to get one in i had the same in april got him in a bit and the weed on the line stopped me in my tracks fish gone,i think they could be trout ,we'll have to land one to be sure

Could be anything but I'd say probably Bass or possibly Guilthead as the rod was hopping!
I have had a few funny bites along that stretch in the past, once had a hook taken off at the knot and I dont think the knot slipped!
I was just at the road by the motorcross track.
We'll see what the next few nights throw up....
