Bray,,,,,,,Sea scorpion, shore rockling, coalie, silver eel, whiting

Greystones 23 Sept
Fished the rocks beside the Harbour for a few hours , rising tide into darkness. Choppy seas, rough at the base of the rocks but I caught a few fish in this churning water, a Shore rockling, some blennies and sea scorpions, all on rag or lug tipped with squid. Fished at distance with strips of mack and I got a mackeral while retrieving . He became the new bait and I got a few whiting, nothing of any size, 20ish cms. Left a bit early as the waves and spray were getting a bit near my perch (sounds better that I left because of the pink rodent eyes reflecting in my headlamp). There were thousands of people around which I only noticed as I left, all because of something going on in the Harbour, maybe an opening :? , Stage was set up and classical music being played.

Bray Harbour 24th Sept.
I set off for Bray with the last of my leftover bait from Thursdays trip to "A Wicklow Beach". I had about 20 rag, a slice of Greystones mackeral and 2 squid. I stopped off to get some chicken and chips and headed down to the Harbour to eat it in peace ,sitting at the back of the van looking at the swans. The fussiest stray dog ever plonked himself down beside me and looked up at me with those "poor me" eyes. I threw him a few chips but he ignored them and I had to give him some of the chicken. His poor physical condition reminded me of meself,,,,arthrithic, poor eyesight, bad knees but unlike myself he looked as though he could do with a feed  .I felt good after feeding him and thought to myself that the Gods might smile on me and reward me with a few fish  . I said my goodbyes to this "little tramp" and started to drive the short distance to the pier, but something was wrong,,,,,,,"ah no , it couldn't be  ",but it was,,,,A PUNCTURE  . My first in the new van and I would now have to figure out how to get the spare out from underneath the van :? . All I can say is thank God for Smartphones and the Internet for between them I soon had it figured out and with thankfully only a medium sized audience watching, I got the spare wheel on.
I could now do some fishing and I decided to just use one rod in close with a 2 hook flapper. The rag and squid combo worked straight away and I caught a nice shore rockling, which was what I was expecting. I got a few fish in the next hour or so , an eel, a coalfish, some sea scorpions and some small whiting. Then it went dead, except for the hordes of crabs. I tried some mack for doggies at distance but this just attracted some more crabs. There were 2 dolphins working through shoals of mackeral a few hundred metres offshore. The 2 not so talkative guys beside me didnt seem to catch anything, but at least they were drowning their sorrows with some cheap alcohol. I left at 10pm and drove home praying not to get another puncture  .
