Mulranny Pier...kinda!

#1 Post by del04 »

People:Me and Diegoconor

Duration:8pm-10pm

Tide:ebbing

Weather:calm and dry

Bait:mack and sandeel

Rigs:2 hook flapper

Results:Me-1. bullhuss, 1. 3bearded rockling
Diego- Blank. Lost 1 fish at end of eve.

Report:Headed down to mulranny pier and arrived there at 7:45, to discover a guy there with his 3 kids at the end of the pier. We had planned to fish there, but there wasnt enough room so decided to head to the rocks at the right hand side of the pier.
Got the gear set up and had the first rod out at 8pm. Line in the water about 10 mins and the tip began to quiver slightly. Reeled in slack and lay into fish. Not much weight or fight and had him up on rocks in a few seconds. A small 3 bearded rockling about 10-12 inches in length. Not great but it saved the blank!!
Didnt bother putting out the second rod as we thought we might get to the end of pier when the other crew left. Not to be!!
Not much happened for the next half hr but diego losing 2 sets of gear :D .Then my rod bent over and i grabbed the rod. Bit of weight and fight in this one. Thought it was a dog, but thankfully it was a huss!! A small one but a huss all the same, and my first of the year.
Fished for another half hr with no joy so we packed up and hit for home!! I was happy enough, 2 new species for this yr.

....Left the damn camera on the table on my way out so no pics :x :x

How ya Dec, Yeah low water is best, but hadnt got out in a while so while we had the chance we decided to go. The huss wasnt too big, slightly bigger than the typical doggie, but at least it was a fish, and my first huss for this yr.
