north antrimt beach 9th Sept

People: me, weedave and shane

Duration:10.30pm to 3.30am

Tide:

Weather:windy enough but dry

Bait: lug, sandeel and mack

Rigs: various

Results: dab, coalie, flounder and dog




Report:

Got a phone call from weedave to come and joing him and shane down at the beach for a bash.
I hadn’t been fishing on the shore since july due to family illness’s this past while and with everything back to normal I was champing at the bit to get back out again!

Headed down to the beach for about 10.30pm and trudged up the beach. Having played an hours indoor football before it, I was getting it bloody tight lugging all this equipment! Lol

Not a busy session for us all, with the wind playing havoc with the leads being dragged up the beach.
I landed a dab, my first one. A decent size, and was returned to the sea again.

Then an hour later, my rod got big knock, I thought it was a bass! I got all excited as I pulled it in, it was putting up a fight!

No! it was a bloody dog! :x ah well, it was returned safely again, despite my hatered towards it! Lol
A god evening craic, with me getting home at 4am, exhausted!

Nice one polmac, heading up that direction myself for a few days was hoping to get out tonight but with that wind theres a good chance I'll get blown off the beach!! Has anyone one had any great success over the last few days with that wind??

it was my lack of sleep! :lol:

i tried ot sleep on the beach but the bloody sand kept blowing in my face :x :lol:

Thats a chunky lookin flounder there polmac, nice one.
2013 Sea Species:- Bass, Flounder, 5 Beard Rockling, Shore Rockling, Whiting, red gurnard, grey gurnard, Pollack, coley, mackerel, sea trout, cant remember cos I didn't update at the time.....
2012 Sea species:- Pollack, Coley, Mackerel, Cod, Bass, Sea Trout, Haddock, Plaice, Dab, Flounder, Red Gurnard, Grey Gurnard, Pouting, Whiting, Corkwing Wrasse, Ballan Wrasse, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Brown Trout caught on beach.
2011 Sea species:- codling, L.S. dogfish, coley, whiting, pollack(4lb 3oz), sea trout, shore conger eel (15lb), ballan wrasse, grey gurnard, plaice, dab (and lobster).

Polmac I kinda wondered what was going on there when I saw Daves response?!?!?

Sorry, I studied the pic quite a bit afterwards... at first glance i just thought I saw a nice well made flounder, but I could be wrong??????? It looks like a flounder but the head was the thing that made me wonder had I got things totally wrong?

Nice flatty! Did you eat it?

naw i put it back in again. i dont tend to take anything i catch unless mackeral for bait and just put it all back in again.

weedaves faces were for somehting else lol
