South Dublin, 10-09-11

#1 Post by Sweetwrasse »

People:myself

Duration:20.40-22.40

Tide:HW at 22.34

Weather:Dry, moderate south-westerly

Bait:lug and white rag

Rigs:2 hook flapper

Results:1x silver eel

Report: Hadn't planned to head out today but just had to scratch that fishing itch! Dug enough lug and rag for a short session in the afternoon and got to the mark just as it was getting dark hoping for an elusive bass for my species list and maybe pick up a few flounder too. As usual with my dublin bay forays things weren't looking good after an hour an a half so changed tactics slightly and started fishing the weedy margins at my feet. A few minutes later I got a bite and pulled in a small silver eel! Rarely have I been so happy to land such a small fish as (a) it saved me another dublin bay blank and (b) it's a new species for my list
Still no bass but glad I made the effort to get out for a short session. Apologies for lack of photo but my phone camera is crap and the eel wouldn't stop moving anyway.
It ain't easy but it sure is simple!

Well done!!! Was out In south Dublin yesterday, and with the wind and tides against us I knew we were in for a tough session, drew a blank myself but it was the most enjoyable blank i had in a long time, heavy swell, on shore gusts, lots of powercasting was done to get over the swell and through the head wind, and watching people trying to swim in that weather is worth every minute of a blank!!! one guy went in, swam for about 1/2 an hour in front of me never moving from the spot he entered and he was going like the clappers!!!! after 30 minutes he got out in the same place he entered and he said to me he thought he moved about a foot up the shore!!! :D Another fella went in ...well went in is kinda wrong... he was paddling in the surf when a wave crashed over him and dragged him in!! :D its alright though he was in his bathing suite, and there was enough of us around if he was in trouble ;) so with those conditions ya did very well!!!! Fair play to ya!!!

The bass was getting hooked left right and center last night at erinreillys about 15 lads fishing, went back down this morning and caught one bass to small to keep thought!
