Co.Down SWFF Mullet

#1 Post by colin c »

People:Me

Date :27/8/2011

Venue:The sea

Duration:2 hrs

Tide:on the fill

Weather:nice

Bait:flies

Rigs:

Results:Mullet

Report:Havent been doing much fishing lately and thought it was about time to wet a line.Drove to the spot ,set up and started the long plod to where I was wanting to fish. After about 45 minutes and a lot of sweating I met the fish as they started to come in with the tide.3rd cast I had a mullet on only to lose it after a short fight Then serious amounts of fish started to show and not long after I had a real solid take and the fight was on.AFter about 10 minutes and some serious runs I had the fish landed quick photo and back he went.A short while later had my second fish on the shore after another nice fight.THought I was going to clean up today but after the second fish I lost another few and missed a few.Called it a day as hunger was getting the better of me.

2 fish landed, about 7 lost and 6 or 7 missed takes nice session for a couple of hours.

Thats 10 or 11 mullet sessions this year and 7 fish landed.

No problem,I hooked a mullet a few years ago by accident while fishing for sea trout. It took a teal blue /silver  so since then I've been trying different flies for them to see what they will take. Its surprising what they will go after.Davy has even had some on bare hooks

And just for the record i wasn`t using trebles  I was fishing with bread and it came of when i cast and the mullet took the bare hook as i slowly retrieved

You`ll give me a bad name colin
