Report:

My bro in law and I thought we'd head down to Ardglass to fish last wednesday night. He was over visiting from the mainland - more of a photographer than fisherman. Got sent up for congers [should say I had taken a strap from a similiar mark recently].

Fun really, tides completely wrong, moon phase shot to pieces and it wasn't even dark.

I left my rod to check on Marks [away taking pics] and when I got back to mine it had snagged, pulled few times, no joy and headed off for knife - bottom was rocky and loads of kelp. Came back - tried again [don't like leaving terminal in sea] and it moved, kept pulling and low behold a giant surfaced. Got it in fairly quickly - it has taken the hook rather low - I use the disolvable ones just in case. Took decision that taking out would cause more damage than leaving in. Returned to water and beast scooted off. The one bloody time I didn't bring a set of scales.

So two things,

1. based on picture and lenght [5 foot] could we have some weight estimations? :?

2. I think that location is more important than conditions with conger, I've fished them for a couple of years now and my exp has been that I generally catch them in completely the wrong conditions:)
