sea trout and water temp

#1 Post by blowin »

Hi ,
I'm planning to have a go at spinning for sea trout tomorrow . They were being caught a couple of weeks ago but recently seem to have been off the feed . Seems coincidental with the drop in temp and possibly NE wind .
Venue Culleenamore , just south of Strandhill , Sligo . This is a wide , shallow , sandy bay with a couple of deep , fast channels at LW .
There is snow on the ground but sun in the sky and the air temp isn't too bad . I'd be fishing the last couple of hours down .
What do you reckon ? ( not you , Steve , but if I don't show up you'll know I got the wrong answer ! )

Hail, sleet, snow, NE winds, 1degree, wet hands, where else would you want to be? :o

I've seen some anglers up my way targetting Sea Trout lately, though personally I'm leaving them alone for another 6 or 8 weeks. I reckon March is too early to go for them when they're just recovering from spawning. Anyhoo, I reckon it was that NE wind that put the fish off their feed.

Don't forget you need a licence to fish for them. Lotsa sea anglers seem to miss that one!

from the reports ive heard quite a few have been taken in recent weeks from the north coast beaches, the colder weather the last few days may put them off the feed though?
