Had a bucket of them back around Kerryhead 01 of August. Around the rose of Tralee should be good down there usually is

Took my two boys down to Teelin harbour Co Donegal on 9th August, fished from 2.30 to 4.00pm. Looking for macks and using feathers and German sprats. Great weather and beautiful place to fish but not a washer. Boys were very disappointed

Re: Mackerel Reports '11 here...
Still no big shoals in North Clare. Caught a dozen in an hour and a half. Long casts with tiny black baitcatchers dragged slowly along the bottom. If there is no bird activity chances are the baitfish and the mackerel are on the bottom so not much point doing the frantic 'upper water' big sweeps of the rod better off cutting down to three small feathers and work where the fish are.
The ones I did catch were donkeys, some of the largest mackerel I have seen in years.

The Truth is often stumbled upon by men, most of whom pick themselves up and hurry along as if nothing ever happened.

Got 8 on Monday morning in Galway harbor on feathers.
BTW: Question for the mackerel maniacs - is there a point in fishing on feathers during the night? Or they are not feeding in that time- I mean HW in night.

Re: Mackerel Reports '11 here...
2 macks off poolbeg Aug 7th weather was brutal, high wind and rain, put the shelter up just to stay dry and got bored caught one of the macks in the rain close to the breakwater, as for Sturmicks question about feathers @ night I use them right up till the sun goes down, and if im out for the night I would bait up top hook third hook and last caught one or two during the night whilst waiting for my flatties to appear
also Hookis (the glowing ones work better in darkish conditions for a while, then shine then up with a torch or light source)

Re: Mackerel Reports '11 here...
spent 6 hours spinning off the back of the eisenhower peir in bangor co down yesterday. not a mackeral to be seen
even the other bashers along the grids were blanking which is really odd as we were pulling in full houses of them here only 5 days ago
.. as we were packing up we got talking to a local guy who was down every evening during the week and had'nt seen a mack in 2 days
really odd as there was still vast ammounts of sand eel and sand smelt hanging around the harbour over high water
mabey all the rain washing off the land has pushed them furthur out or something.
