Would it be worth plotting them on a map for anglers wanting to take a boat out?
I've been looking here: http://www.irishshipwrecks.com/ and some of them have the co-ordinates, but no doubt there's others out there that aren't listed.

Re: Ship wreck map
Hi lads
I own the Irish shipwrecks site and as Twinkle said the marks are general and can't be relied on.
I have my own reasons for not including marks (I don't have that many anyway) I am a diver but my interest in wrecks is more from a historical point .
I have Maxsea 7 installed on my PC , I am open to helping out with a Chart if it comes about.

Might not be a bad idea if there are boat anglers who have smart phones to log the GPS co-ordinates when they're out on the water above a wreck. I always save a good mark to my favourites on my maps.

Re: Ship wreck map
Nice idea but boat anglers tend to be protective of wreck marks (maybe all marks!). Many guys put a lot of effort into sourcing/developing accurate marks.
I remember giving marks to a fellow "angler" one time. The wreck was a great cod mark. The guy (he knows who he is!) flogged the wreck, caught the fish and sold them.
And people wonder why I am protective of marks

Any idea of how long a ships bulkhead will last in rough seas here in Kerry? 2 wooden sail cargo ships were wrecked here locally in early 19th century....would there be much left of them now?

For any of you that have android phones and are looking for marine charts i am selling them on ebay.
They cover ireland and the uk all costal and most big inland waters.
You can add your own marks and a host of other useful info.
Well worth it. It will cost you double anywhere else.

Re: Ship wreck map
i would say there would a fair bit of them left if ya look at roskilde fjord where they found 5 sunken viking ships over a thousand years old in fairly good nick and boats from the iron age have been reclaimed from the sea .iarlaom wrote:Any idea of how long a ships bulkhead will last in rough seas here in Kerry? 2 wooden sail cargo ships were wrecked here locally in early 19th century....would there be much left of them now?
