Goat Island?
Hi chaps, new to this forum (but others may know me elsewhere) so would like to say a big hi to everyone :D
I need some advice on the fishing potential at a place around Ardmore, Waterford as I will be staying at a cottage overlooking Goat Island :D Can anyone give me local advice on best times to fish , flood, ebb, methods etc.
I'll be getting there the second week in July.
Tight lines

Isn't there anyone from around there, who can give a few pointers?

Pugs,
I'm only just getting to grips with the area having explored it extensively over Xmas. The marks & details from the shore marks link on the front page appeared very accurate.
Ardmore pier appeared to be good with the tide coming in. Ferrypoint was good over the high tide & on a receding tide. Youghal Green Park appeared good on an incoming tide.
For July I would think there would be many possibilities for spinning, around Armdore Head & also Goat Island (I intend to spin of the rocks there in the summer as I think it would be good). You could also spin from Mangan's Cove or Calisso Bay, which would only be a sort walk. I tried bottom fishing from Calisso over Xmas & lost virtually every rig I cast, be warned it's very rough !
Hope this helps.

Thanks matey, I too have been thinking about spinning around Goat Island. Looks 'Bassey' to me and reckon fish a flooding tide. Got to be better than around Beachy Head at the mo! Are you around in mid to late July and fancy some early morning plugging sessions?
Thanx for the advice much appreciated

Not to sure about the Ardmore area have herd of some nice bass been taken there. Sadly most anglers have to keep a low profile when you mention the word bass. Anywhere in Youghal, even up to a mile above the bridge with easy access, will fish very well for flounder, crab been the best bait. Post again before you tavel for more upto date info.

just fished casillo bay over the week dangerous place to be there is a big drop and there is a big kelp bed there so that's were all your gear would be lost very hard to fish even do when you come on to the beach and see that surf you think that your after finding a spot whiting bay is a very good beach

Jon, when are you in the area? Are you there last couple weeks in July?

Guys,
12 days to go until I get there :D :D :D
How's it been fishing recently?
What is water like at the mo, clear, dirty etc? and how long does it take locally to clear after a blow (here in Sussex at least 7 days until you can attempt spinning)
Any Sea Trout been caught and what other species could I expect of the strands?
Loads of questions but I'm like a school kid, you all know the feeling :D :D :P
