Things Like this happen all the time and the ifsa wonder why anglers(myself included) leave the match fishing scene.

well done team ireland have the organisers of this event come forward with any explanation as to why they pegged over an area that is not fishable on the tide they were fishing. i suggest next time they hold it they just peg the carpark of there local bar seems like thats where there heads were at

alas no surprises here the ifsa getting it wrong again it seems threads like this pop up every few months. in my view they will keep popping up while non anglers are at the helm. pityful absolutely pityful! things can only be rectified if those responsible come out admit they messed up apologise and then change the whole system. wishful thinking methinks.

We have all seen how bad daylight fishing can be on the east coast without the right worm baits(no maddies), just look at the leinster league results in daylight on the east coast over the last few years and the majority of the competitions were disasters or the recent EFSA European championships the fishing was terrible.
IMO at this time of year to have any decent kind of competition on the east coast you need to fish into darkness the last leg of the leinster league on north beach Wicklow was a perfect example of how a competition should be run with the right baits for the right venue at the right time and on the right tide.

Believe me when i say that i can under stand how gd ,Eric and many others have become frustrated with the IFSA, but all i can say that things will not change by anglers moaning on the beaches about the IFSA and then eventually walking away from our sport. If your not happy with the current set up in the IFSA there is only one place to do something about it and thats at the federation AGM.
I have a pain in my hole listening to lads on the beaches saying that things have to change.The AGM is the only place that change can happen.
If all the anglers that have complained to me over the last few years were to actually take a few hours out of their busy lives and show up at the AGM and lend their support to the many good proposals that are brought forward every year, then change would happen.

as fishfinder said there is only one way to change things and it is through the agm with motions that are put in in the right way. so every one should tell there own clubs what motions they want put in, and do it well in advance no point tying to put them in on the day of the agm.

while i agree totally that the only place to make a change is at the annual agm in fairness every concerned angler in the country shouldnt have to attend a meeting for the ifsa to organise a match where the tide is within casting range for the duration of the match

We're WORLD CHAMPIONS, have some top class match anglers in this country, yet we have a number of people running the Federation that are an embarrassment to all of us. SOME of these people need to be removed and replaced with people who actually know what they're doing. With the right people in the right positions within the Federation there is no reason why Ireland wouldn't be realistically challenging for World Championships every year. Country's such as the England have won buckets of individual and team medals over the last 20yrs or so.... Have they far superior anglers to us? I don't thinks so...

i can only say one thing about changing who is in there is we need people to run ,new people can not be elected if no one runs.not everyone in the ifsa are doing bad job there a lot of behind the scenes work that people do that that we never see.
there needs to be change and a few new faces would be good if the right people were to go for it but it would have to be the RIGHT people and the RIGHT changes not just rushing in changing things only to find out later they were bad changes.

What happened at the home nations was a total farce for the -16 and-21, can someone please explain to me why are seniors given the best venues. if what I am been told is true, the seniors had over 190 fish between them on day 2, and had water in front of them not needing great casting distance. So what was decided, was that we put the -16 -21 on the poorer venue,
Which was bad enough if water had been there, and some reports even said that all the anglers could have placed on the roe estuary. It is a great sport where you put pressure on your -16 and -21 to catch fish on a venue that is not going to produce fish as good as the senior venues. So let’s look after the seniors, __ the -16 -21, who are the future of this sport, put pressure on them to catch fish and JUST be proud to fish for Ireland. __ that.
IF THE SENIORS had no water in front of them for 2 hours there would have been WAR, THE -16 AND -21 were treated like second class ANGLERS at this event on day 2.
LET ME MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I AM NOT BLAMEING OUR SENIOR ANGLERS, AND WELL DONE ON THE SILVER, BUT THE BLAME LIES WITH THE PEOPLE AND THE IFSA WHO RAN THIS COMPETITION FOR MAKING US THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE HOME NATIONS COMPETION.
Having been involved with the -16 -21 in Munster for the last few year, and to all the other anglers who make the teams, I have seen how much hard work, effort and cost, they put into making the team and the pride they have in representing their country, only to be treated like this. When you have anglers, crying when leaving the beach because of the disappointment of not doing well, DUE TO NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN, if that not telling us that there is something majorly wrong. Finally No excuse will be good enough when you cannot plan to have water if front of the anglers for the 4 hours of the competition. WELL DONE TO THE -16-21 FOR MAKING THE TEAM AND PUT NO BLAME ON YOURSELF For THE RESULTS, NONE OF YE F###ED UP, IT WAS NOT YOUR FAULT.
by the way I am signing this and not hiding behind my user name, so people know who I am, and maybe if we all did this, The IFSA would see how pi##ed of people really were. JOHN KINSELLA, WATERFORD.

Personally I dont think there is a whole lot wrong with the IFSA .

I believe that there may be some tweeks needed in regards to the running of major competitions and International team selection. Most notably venue selection(put the anglers over fish) . Also we need to get more young people into this sport.

For the most part the elected officers are doing a fine job and long may it continue however I also believe that some positions do need to be freshened up with new people and new ideas.

As the lads said above we all should be trying to attend the AGM. If you care about the sport and want to see it succeed and grow here in Ireland you should make the effort to travel. One morning of the year is not a lot to ask.

OK, so i was pretty tired and angry when i made my last post, and i'm still pretty angry but whatever. I missed a few things i should have said.

Before this thread gets caught up in IFSA bashing i would just like to say massive thinks to Eamonn Fogarty, Peter Flahive and Philip O'Sullivan for all their help and for putting up with us for the week. Thanks lads.

Also a huge thanks to the stewards who did a sterling job and were very generous with the measurements . Also thanks to anyone else who helped us, we didn't get the gold but silver isn't to be sniffed at all things considered.

My commiserations to the under 16s too, last place was not what they deserved as they are all top class anglers.

Lastly a personal thanks to Phil McIlvenna for lending me a load of gear that i needed, it was hugely appreciated.

P.S. I almost forgot to congratulate the bait suppliers as well, all the crab supplied was top notch stuff, we really couldn't have asked for better bait. Supplying that much crab is no mean feat, and they did themselves proud.

Hi alex, for me this is not having a go at the prople who are doing the work in the IFSA, like the people mentioned and some others, and as all ways the stewards who give their time freely for the weekend. but it is at the lack of thought put in to make sure this competition was run to the highest standard for ALL the anglers , not alone for our anglers, but for the visiting teams as well. How can a venue be picked that leaves anglers without water in front of them. i know the work put in by the -16-21 for this competition,and I can only imagine how angry and fustrated all of ye were. My point was and still is the -16-21 teams sould be treated with the same respect as the seniors, which theY are by some, in the IFSA, but by others they are not treated with the respect they derserve,they should be put on venues that are equal to the senior venues, as they put in the same effort if not more to get ready for the competition as you know, and i agree that without peter,eamon and philip things would be a lot worse and they are doing their best and are doing a good job.You know what went on up there, the comment that was made by a central council member, the under 16 been given 18 ifsa pens and 18 badges to give to the visiting teams,6 pens and badges for each team, and nothing for themself to swap badges with the other teams. the -21 would have had nothing to give only for the senior manager who gave them the pens and badges he got. All the other team were swapping badges and our lads were like paupers with nothing to swap. It madden me that after all the effort put in by the -16-21 they are treated in this manner,and I know how the managers and anglers feel.I agree that the only way to change thing is at the AGM, AND i WOULD LIKE TO THINK THE-16-21 WOULD HAVE THE SUPPORT OF SENIOR ANGLERS, to try and make it fair , for all our anglers who resresent their country no matter what their age is.
