handlining

Just wondering could anyone offer me advice on handlining? I have an old wooden rack shaped one down the shed somewhere which I’m hoping to root out and bring along on a charter boat out of roundstone next weekend. I’ve never tried this method before so if anyone can offer any tips or advice on whether it would be feasible of a boat I’d really appreciate it. I do a bit of shore fishing but we’re all novices for boat fishing. (it’s a stag party!). I did a trip out of kilmore quay last year and we we’re hauling in mackerel and Pollock and cod all day jigging feathers. It was good craic and I’d imagine this will be similar but I’d like to try something different and I thought this might be a fun way to fish?

If it’s the orange line you are talking about leave it at home

That type of fishing is best done on your own or with a really good friend.

The line causes a big belly when it is in the water and will only tangle everyone else on the boat.

There is a good chance they will use it to tie you to the mast just to get you out of their way.
