With silage being eventually cut up on the hill we had a very limited selection in fields yesterday which ment we had a 90 degree cross wind for the whole day (16-20k!!), and with both the temp and humidity as high as they were we did not expect any great numbers but Paul Noble still managed some very respectable distances on all four leads. Well done.
A small turn out but as usual the crack was 90 and with the return of the ledgend of the match circut kstaff using the greatest field rod and reel in the world we had a right bit o crack..

Results in meters:

Paul Noble-175g/230.65..150g/245.30..125g/244.73..100g/232.75

PaddyC-175g/215..150g/224.85

one of the best days for consistent wind we've had on the hill and yet due to circumstances we had to cast at right angles to it...never so frustrating..

still the craic was great, staffo and crackoff on the merits of reels-old v new-

between sun and wind i resembled a italian beef tomato when i got home although seem now to have progressed to a piece of bog wood

Further consultation with the descriptions on the back of my recently purchased sun cream has informed it actually was a 2 in 1 bronzer job, despite the smart-ar$e girl in the shop sayin it wasnt.....I look awesome though :) good craic depite the conditions

Lads, quick question, forgive me as I am a filthy fisherman…..

I can understand the wind effects the distances you hit, especially a cross or head wind. But does humidity cut down the distances achievable? I’m just taking my example from golf, that in dry warm air the ball flies further in the air, but in damp, cool air the ball flight is cut down.

The humidity bit may have to do with reel set up or something, I’m just curious!

high humidity definately slows thing down a bit alright, especially if there's no wind, reel bearings tend to to be far less lively

with a good tail wind though, the effect is'nt so noticable

high pressure and low humidity with a decent wind are probably the best conditions for casting-rarely found though

and then appraching from the distance,,,,fresh from a recent win,,,,the living ledgend of the match scene was back,, to gave us the shake-down on the greatest tackle available to man..!! As you can see after the long break from the court it didnt take him long to get back into the thick of it,, and with his usual charisma, stunning composure and near "gazel-like" fluidity he nailed a few straight up the middle.
Excellent job kSTaff, it was great to get you back down again

Couldn't make it down lads, shame cos it looked like a pleasant day to be out, even tho you had difficult casting conditions.
Was all reaady to go but Marty was ill, mind you if we had known "The Staff" was putting in a personal appearance it might have been a different story.

Cracking pics Paddy and class video again Lee. Digging those funky vibes man! 8)
