Seaniebo that was a really nice couple of days fishing, and a specimen dab to boot! After seeing that I'm gonna hit the shore this weekend, the pike will be safe for a while yet.

Lads, given the date of the trip to Killary, what are people doing baitwise. Any live stuff will have to be bought as early as thurday won't it?

Blaker, Most of the fish will happily take sandeel or mackerel here. We didnt have any worm with us last trip. I probably will bring some with me for the comp just in case but id be happy travelling with 40 worms at most. Peeler's never caught me much down here. Make sure you get your sandeel ordered, thats the most important.

Not sure if that is the name of it, its a lovely crescent shaped beach flanked by an island just outside the mouth of the inlet, and it runs beyond the island into a series of other coves and beaches. Last week it produced some nice flats apparently, nothing huge and when the angler moved to the mouth of killary, he had two thornies to 4.5 lbs - now I know its very early but its is possible given the depth of water. This particular angler is know to possess a fair imagination - pass the salt !

Kieran,
If it's the beach next to Little Killary? That's Glaslaun beach! The island can be reached at low tide via a causeway. It can probably be reached at various states of the tide with chest waders. Let me know if you make it!

As most have said it's a fabulously scenic place to fish.

If you fish there again, Leenane is the best place to stay, although there is accommodation in Lettergesh. Also a youth hostel at Little Killary near the pier.
