Hello all,
I only started fishing multipliers last December so I'm still finding my feet so to speak. I'm now using the abu 6500ct sports-mag with a abu suveran sx 12'9" and love it. Before that my usual set-up was a daiwa emblem-s 6000t on a cono-flex 147fs max.Hoping for advice / views on the following.
Id like to continue using the cono-flex but with a daiwa sl30sh for rough ground.
1) Is this just a matter of swapping reels. :?:
2) Do I have to re-ring the rod for a multiplier :?: .
3) Is this blank suitable for a multiplier. :?:
Please help...

First up, the SL30SH is a great reel for the rocks. Easy to use, solid and reliable.
Theory is, that you can use a multiplier on a rod rung for a fixed spool, but you shouldn't use a fixed spool on a multiplier rod.
The multiplier rod usually has 8 rings and the fixed spool 6 depending on the brand, rod length etc. The difference is that you hold the rod upside-down for a multiplier - ie reel in with the rings on the spine of the rod on top.
Also that the first ring on a fixed spool rod is bigger to allow free flow of line from the spool.

I fish an almost identical setup. The Suveran will handle the rough stuff easily. Unless you feel that you will get greater distance with with the 14 ft I would stick with it. The slosh will go with it just as well as the mag. If you still use a fix spool setup occasionally then its nice to have a rod for the job. As for line brushing off the blank on the cast I would not worry about it when you consider that it is rolling around on the sea bed and that isint varnished. I know you can use multipliers with fixed spool rods but i would prefer the other way and use a fixed spool reel with a rod ringed for multiplier.
