This is a fundraising competion for the Irish casting team 2011.
It will be held on the 16th July, venue: Clones beach, a 4 hour match fishing into dark.
Some fantastic prizes on offer that have been very kindly donated by our friends in the casting/angling business.
1st prize for the biggest fish will be a Zziplex rod.... More info to follow soon......

zziplex rod for first prize , also honda marine ireland have given us 2 of there offshore jackets valued at €150 each , boca bearings have given us a voucher , as has the new tackle shop in greystones given a €50 voucher , more prizes to be added aswe get them confirmed ,
this is a big fish event so anyone can win , also the chance of a nice smoothound ray or tope into the mix 8)
this is the first irish casting team to go to the worlds and we dont get any funding from ifsa so this is a very worthy cause , a donation of €20 to fish is all we need , the theme of the night is to have fun and catch a big fish , none of this live or die match fishing stuff allowed :D with the exception for the use of the bomber rig :D
all welcome even match anglers :D :D :D
hope to see you all there
fishing time 8 till 12

who had their date picked first? it would only be fair that they got 1st preferance.
having both the same day isnt going to help either team as there will be lads hoping to fish both fundraisers and each team will loose out. after all they are both Team Ireland and both trying to compete at the same championships. it would be unfair to hinder either teams fundraising by having the 2 comps on together.

Crappy that they clash but sure that's fishing and tides! As much as I'd love to fish Courtown to support the (fishing) Irish Team I'll have to go with the the bomber. Seeing that a fellow club member is going to be heading for Italy casting I want to show him my support. Both venue's should fish well and maybe I'll get to Youghal in August.

I Presume that both competitions are covered by insurance?
It just seems strange that the IFSA would give the go ahead for the shore team and casting team fundraising competitions on the same night.
Its a pity that anglers will now have to make a choice which one to fish. :( :?

This is just typical of the Irish they can’t even get a fund raiser right.

I would strongly advise both parties to get their act together and sort out this problem.

There are anglers out there who want to support both sides but now they are left with a case of support one and offending the other or play safe and staying neutral and supporting neither.

My best advice to both sides is to drop the clashing date and find a new one.

I’m willing to travel to meet both parties and stand in the middle to help sort out new dates.

If Penn points are involved I’m almost certain that Alan Yates would have no problem in a change of date as both these competitions would be classed as local competitions and would not be drawing in anglers from the UK

Can both parties not just combine the comp to one comp for both our Irish teams, make life easier for people, plus you will have a bigger turn out,
Both teams get s**t funding from the federation, the casting team get nothin at all. I've no idea what the shore team get but bet it's not to much either

"The Big Fish Bomber" is a Sportscast Ireland fundraising event, not an IFSA event!
Between other comps, work, and personel commitments of the organisers this is the date that suits us best, we knew nothing of the other fundraiser when we posted it up.

Oh right! can you explain what we didnt get right then?? considering our date was set on Tues night and our post went up nearly an hour before the other one,, are we ment to be mind readers now aswell... It is an unfortunate coincidence that they are both on the same day but if lads want to fish our one they will and vice-versa, i dont see a problem...

Before this situation gets totally out of hand and the mud slinging starts lets not loose sight of the fact that both teams require support!

I cannot attend either comp as I'm away on that date so, I will be paying my entry fee to both parties to support each team. If i was able to fish ( and probably win both lets be honest :D ) great but I can't do either.

If you are willing and able to support both teams please do so, fish one of the comps and pay entry for the other, not ideal but workable.

now back to the matter in hand
if you want / can fish the big fish bomber just let us know by pm or such like or any member of sportscast ireland , also the €20 is a suggested fee as it is a donation not an entry fee you can of course give more :D :D or less if the case maybe
thank you all so far who have commited to fish and help out 8)
