southeast beach 11/05/2011

#1 Post by southaussie »

People:me and later, a lad off the site

Duration:from half 8 till half 1

Tide:unsure didnt change much

Weather:mild onshore breeze

Bait:lug, squid, crab

Rigs:pulleys and flappers

Results:1st for the year and pb BASS, flounder, dabs and doggies

Report:made a late decision to head out after a coaching session in arklow, picked up some fat lug and headed to a mark, first cast out for a few mins and a fair rattle, pulled in a heap of weed and a doggie, happy days blank saved, fishing fairly slow untill my rod left the tripod as i grabed it and started to retrieve the slack felt a fish start to play, had to adjust the drag as it was resisting and down under resistance is useless, 5 or so mins later i beached a pb BASS os 6 and a half pounds 66 cm long and my first for eyear, was dancn around like a child but hey so i should. fishing picked up around midnight with half decent dabs and doggies every second cast, ran outa lug at half 1 so packed up and headed home. :D :D

Fine lump of a bass there. Fair play to ya. Catchin a fish like that so close to the ban will make the month seem a lot longer. Plenty of time to tie up rigs anyway.
