Greystones North beach, 10-5-11

#1 Post by Sweetwrasse »

People:Shane and Myself

Duration:17.30-9.15

Tide:Dropping (HW at 16.44)

Weather:Mild, slight SE wind.

Bait:Mackeral, squid, rag, crab

Rigs:Flappers and pulleys

Results:Shane- 1 dogfish, Myself- 1 dogfish

Report:
Quick report- fished greystones north yesterday evening. Had intended to fish south beach but a test cast produced a broken mainline due to weight of weed :( Decided to hit the more sheltered north beach and it was indeed weed free. Only two doggies landed and another lost in the surf. Nothing in close on the scratching rod but couldn't hang around for darkness to see if the flounder started feeding. One of the doggies coughed up half a sandeel when I was unhooking him which I found interesting as I didn't think they were active predators??!
Anyway, good to be out and find a weed free spot after all those easterlies. Tight lines.
It ain't easy but it sure is simple!

suppose the sandeel could have been knackered or dead - guess nothing turns their nose at a free lunch

Right enough. Maybe he disturbed it while digging away at my bait!! Suppose we'll never know :?
