Clare 1/05/2011

#1 Post by Conger »

People: Me & Bassmania

Duration: 1pm to 5.30pm

Tide: Incoming

Weather: Hot & Sunny with strong easterly :?

Bait: Fresh Lug & Sandeel

Rigs: 2 hook

Results: Me - 1flounder, Bassmania - 2 Flounder

Report: Sorry only getting this report up now, we decided to take a trip to clare at the weekend. Hit down to our lug mark first and got some great quality lug. At this point we checked out one mark but decided on another mark that has been good to us in the past  There was a bit of a gale blowing up at this point and blowing in the wrong direction  but we said we'd plough on. Got to the mark and had an initial bit of 'Oh f€&k it' as we thought we could see weed in the water, but thankfully it was not as bad as we thought so up we set and started the hunt. Despite the wind i was still hopeful for a silver fella, after an hour and countless passerby's asking question after question my optimism was starting to rattle when Bassmania left a yelp out, fish on, we could see a fish break the surface in the distance then things went a little light, eventually up popped a wee flounder that was foul hooked :D Blank saved for himself  I hate to say it but it looked like a good fish was lost, not sure what it was but it put a good bend in the rod, there is no way the wee flounder put that bend there. A few minutes after all that excitement  :D :D I spotted one of my rods take a bit of a knock, left it sit for a while then i said i give it a check and up popped a chunky wee flounder that weighed in at 1lb. A couple of more lads turned up towards the top of the tide, and the lad above me had a small schoolie, so hopes picked up again  should have left the hopes where they were because outside of Bassmania getting another wee flounder things never took off for us, but hey blanks were saved :D :D :D and it was good to get out
