Sun, Flounder's and sh sh sh Shark! 29 Apr 2011

#1 Post by tomgrey »

People: Me

Duration: 5pm - 9:30pm

Tide: High at 4.30pm..ish

Weather: Calm and sunny

Bait: Lug and razor

Rigs: Running ledger, double runner

Results: 12 flounder

Report: I wasn't going to post this report as all I had was tiny flounder all evening none more than 20 odd cm, so not worth getting the cameara out for. Some where hard to unhook so it was best not to be hanging around either. An hour or so into the session I looked out to sea to be greeted by the sight of this black shark fin sticking out of the water. He was crusing along very slowly and every now and again I could see the snout sticking out of the water, this could only be a basking shark judging be its size, speed and the lenght of time he was at the surface. He cruised pass then turned around just about 50m past me and cruised on by again. Even when I was packing up 2hrs or so later I could still see him cruising further out. It was a sight to see and I thought it made this interesting enough to post.....

I'd say he was feeding because he was around for 2hr's or so on the surface, good to see them local anyway
