WWaterford 1st & 2nd May
People: Me & 2 nephews Leon (7) & Keelan (6)
Duration: 2 hours each day
Tide: 5ish & 6 ish
Weather:Sunny with strong E wind
Bait:Lugs on Sat and Razor on Sun
Rigs: 2 up
Results: Sat 1 founder & Sun 1 bass
Report: Down in Ardmore on weekend with the outlaws joining us. Lean & Keelan were dying to go fishing. Digging lug on Sat provided great entertainment.
We went to a local beach with a bit of shelter and set up the rods. I was not expecting any result and so brought the football and frisbee. Not a good idea as they wrecked me. After about an hour we saw one rod give a rattle and Leon wound in a lovely flounder.... his 1st beach caught fish. We then missed a bass and had a few small bites ( probably small flats).
Next morning the lads were up early & jumping around to go fishing. It was raining and I didn't feel like digging bait. Of course it stopped after an hour and they were pleading again to go out. Razors were pulled out of the freezer and we set off to another beach. The surf was picture perfect but I wasn't sure the razors would work. I also had the wrong size hooks on the traces, too small for razors. The two rods were set up. Two other anglers joined us with fresh lugs and crab. We didn't stand a chance. Suddenly the 2 rods buckled one after the other. I missed the 1st bass but hooked the 2nd. The lads were running around in the surf at this stage. As the bass passed between the 2 of them they chased it up the beach. They had caught a bass!!!
2 more savage bites were missed.
2 very happy young anglers returned home ready for battle another day.

Well done , nice fish. With the right hook size you'd probably have a bass on either hand

Looks like the nephews enjoyed themselves - anglers for life now!!
I recognize those beaches - must give the one in the first photo a go soon, havn't fished there since 2009.
