Report:After 2 weekends fishing calm water we were looking forward to a bit of a surf at Ennereilly. Nearing the beach I was being waved at and flashed at by all the locals

. "Surely they dont recognise me", I joked to myself but then the reason became apparent,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Horses on the road

.Neil was already there when i arrived, and some guys introduced themselves as Tightlines and his brother, who were out for a marathon session, complete with tent and accessories. Neil was delighted to be recognised and never shut up about them not recognising me all night

,but i'm used to him so it was water off a ducks back to me.

The skies darkened overhead but the storm clouds passed by , heading South towards Courtown. We fished away for an hour or so when Fishfaces rodtip gave a violent shake,,,fish on. He lifted into it and soon landed a nice little bass

He shouted to all and sundry that he had caught a bass,he's so humble

. I went over to take a piccie and suggested that he clean the sand off first

.He went to the waters edge and tried to wash the sand off but the crafty fish nicked him in the finger and Neil let go. I cracked up as Neil dived into the water after him and ended up on all fours in the surf

With the Bass released whether he wanted to or not Neil and I got back to the serious stuff of catching fish.Nothing could distract us from this, not even another car getting stuck on the beach

Bites were almost nonexistant in the stiff breeze but Neil landed a few more fish, a nice little codling on crab and a whiting. Lucky for him he recognised the next fish as a weever, and handled it accordingly

.There was a good surf on and as the tide started to recede we hoped for a few decent fish but it wasnt to be. I had 3 pin whiting for my troubles, saving the blank. I never have much luck at Ennereilly but between nudists, horses , cars getting stuck and now Fishface testing out his Floatation suit, i've had a few laughs there

Roll on next week

I didnt get much of his attempted catch and release but i've made the most of what I got and its only fair that I share it here
