Farewell Pat 'The Cope'

#1 Post by JGF »

Looks like Pat 'The Cope' Gallagher's approval of a €3m grant for Greencastle harbour will be his parting gift before moving on. Will a new minister for Marine be a welcome development or not?

Only time will tell.

But I see a regime change as a golden opportunity to get the ear of whoever takes over before the commercials do.

As soon as a replacement is announced, I'd encourage everyone to write as before stressing the importance of fish stocks and angling and the need for a change in the way our fisheries are managed.

Look on the bright side and live in hope.

The pig is a 'trademark' I put on every commercial application I write - on the splash or welcome screens. The image (in real life, it's a photo, not an icon) differs from application to application but all feature a pile of pigs, with the one in the middle being in 'rear elevation', as the architectural fraternity might put it. My twisted little tribute to my 'employers' (ie eejits who insist on changing the specs after I've started coding    ). The though of them looking at a pig's hind end every time they fire up my software amuses me greatly. (Sad, I know )

Since this is a family orientated site, I've just went with a small, non-offensive token porker. Everyone else has fish or boats as a theme - I'm different, I've got a pig.....

Ah, my local TD.....not know for his individual forward thinking capacity, more of a political stiff with a view to staying on to the bitter end. Oh well, at least he cannot be accused of kow towing to Killybegs now. What are the thoughts that a county, much ignored by Dublin will now have a fishing port? Rosslare Europort seems a bit of a non starter so maybe Rosslare Europort Fishing Port might be the new buzzword here.

I've decided I can't beat the corporate thieves, so I've decided to defeat them from within. Started my own business. Playing hell with my fishing time so far though. It's a killer looking out over Ards bay on a good day while wiring a block of houses....

I hope Tanglerat is taking full advantage.
