Baltimore - Co Cork -26 April

#1 Post by yogurtnutter »

People: Anthony

Duration: 10am - 5pm

Tide: HI tide was around 12

Weather:Fair to Sunny

Bait: Mackerel

Rigs:2 hook paternoster

Results:4 crabs - 1 dogfish

Report:
I have never fished this are before so it was a bit of trial and error. I fished the jetty where the car ferry comes in... caught 2 orange and 2 green crab.. (would have been 6 but they decided to let go.)

I have heard people mention the beacon.. after asking a local or 2 I found the place.. I fished to the right hand side of the beacon on a lower bit.. and it produced a dogfish.

I do not know if there any spots to the left of the beacon. Will have a better look another time.

Thanks Fishy . That was my first ever Dogfish... I wish I could have seen my own face when it started grunting at me  will be catching the bus to Baltimore a bit more often.

Anthony,
You had a fair old walk there to the Beacon, hope you travelled light, if not you are probably still recovering.

If you pop into the Algiers pub they might also point you in the direction of a few other marks.
I spend a few weeks every year in Baltimore (Boat Fishing Festival) in August then days fishing Barley Cove, the back end of Mizen Head and various other places. Lovely area and well worth exploring

Its well worth the walk.
