Port Beach, Co Louth 26/4/2011
People:Myself and Davy (carp angler)
Duration: 01.00 - 06.00
Tide: High water approx 05.30
Weather: still and mild at first, then blustery ne wind kicking in
Bait:Rag, lug and sandeel
Rigs: 2 hook, 3 hook flappers .
Results: Davy - 1 8lb 4oz bass, 1 flounder me - 6 flounder, 1 dab
Report:
Arrived on Port Beach to find lovely conditions. Got set up , and rods in the water about 01.00 . Within half an hour or so, Davy's tripod was pulled right over by a stonker of a bite. It was obviously a decent fish , and it gave him some stick . Was over the moon to see a fine bass come out of the surf. We weighed it, photographed it, and returned it alive and kicking . Within minutes I landed the first of 2 double shots of flounder. Over the next 2 to 3 hours we landed several flatties , 3 of which were good size flounders . Then , out of nowhere a strong cold ne wind started blowing into our faces, followed by silly amounts of weed . We gave it about an hour , but it was unfishable with all the weed . We packed up happy men though, and would certainly have landed more , if the wind hadn't tits up . Bass photo to follow

Hi Captaink, nice going on that beach, i go to that beach a lot and it has been very hit and miss for the last while. I was there on Monday morning from 04.00 to 07.30 and did not even get a sniff although the water looked like a swimming pool it was that calm, so i'm glad ye didnt get a blank. Looking forward to the pic of the bass.

rod pulled right over??? stonker of a bite??? too right. . . if i remember correctly, i had to call ya over as i balanced one rod and the pod in my hands, as my other rod decided it was going for a swim. (once i seen the rod going into the water i knew what was on. . .)
now, someone gave me a programme to use before, to resize pictures. any ideas?

Re: Port Beach, Co Louth 26/4/2011
Had huge weed problems near this venue over last weekend I left after 45minutes.
Are there any tactics that can be used to fish when there is so much weed around?
Regards,
Sean

2011: Aims:
1. To discover as many marks as I can.
2. To catch a bass over 5lb on a lure.
3. To stick to, and learn about lure fishing so I can shake off the beginner tag!

Aye, the weed was a nightmare when it arrived. Killed the fishing stone dead
