antrim coast saturday 16th april

People: me

Duration: 4pm - 6pm

Tide: out on arrival

Weather: grand

Bait: spinners and sandeel

Rigs: 2 hook flapper

Report: returned to a regular mark yet again to see if i could land a decent pollack. did a bit of spinning for an hour but no joy, had to give up on the spinning and so decided to move further down the rocks to try bait fishing over cleaner ground to see what i could catch. threw out the rod with 2 hooks baited with sandeel. not much happening for the first while so i decided to go hoke through a few rockpools. came back to my rod a bit later and saw a nice nod on it and reeled in to see a healthy little pollack of maybe just over 1lb. he was returned fit and well. was glad to see the blank saved but that was the only fish. things were very quiet.

well done ever tryed freelineing a sandeel or ledgering with a light set up it works well for pollock

no i havent tried freelining with a sandeel mate. certainly sounds like an idea, must give it a go. cheers
