Hello all.
How common/uncommon are these around our coast. I caught one last year off a rock mark in Waterford but never see them in reports other than boat reports. :?:
Have had a few fishing extremely deep rock marks in West Clare alright, dont remember getting them anywhere else from the shore although have had a few off the boat in The Swilly in Donegal though. What they lack in size they make up for in beauty, spectacular looking fish.
Pete.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial
Plenty to be caught from boats on the south coast. So many thet most clubs give very little points for them. The more intersting thing about this species is that they will change sexes if there is a inbalance. the male is the more colourful where the female is brown in colour and has 3 dark dots from the end of the dorsal to the start of the tail. Have caught them from the shore on coloo rock in kerry.
'The Maidens' off Larne seems to be the ultimate Cuckoo Wrasse Spot.
My PB was taken under the Lighthouse at Rathlin (On a Boat mind) and was a Male of over 1lb.
plenty to be had from some other marks in donegal bay as well from the shore. id also say that if you fished from the shoreline of rathlin island you would get plenty.
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!
