People:me and the brother (james)

Duration:4pm-3am

Tide:rise,and fall

Weather:fine and calm

Bait[/rag,lug,crab,razor,sandeel,herring,squid
Rigs:flappers,1up 1down

Results:me 1 bass 2 dogs 1 dab james 3 dab




Report:this the short varsion as i lost it twice already,, fished ballinulard from 4pm-3am first cast i had a nice little bass at 2.5lb my first of the year so was happy with the start and then james had a dab on his second cast and then noting for hours a couple of missed bites but noting much then around 12am we both had another 2 fish in the space of 20 mins with james geting another 2 dab and me geting my first dogs of the year noting for the rest of the night but i reeled in a dab as we were packing up

Crackin looking bass , is that not old bawn beach ? looks like the south beach in cahore behind you?

you could be right i did see a sign saying old bawn maybe ballinulard is the next one up

Yeah its old bawn, you can see the turbines from there there so big, its a 5 min drive from there, theres two buoys right in front where you were fishing, i fish there all the time. some crackin smoothies there in the summer, and bass to 8-12lb off the beach, it can be a queit beach when you catch a fish they do be monsters,
Those buoys mark a big drop off about one and a half miles out, for the boats, very productive for bass , tope, ray and smoothies.
Thats why that beach the fish can be huge, because they come in close to shore for smaller fish.
I caught a 10lb bull huss off there with a fillet of mackerel trying for some thornies.
It is a brilliant beach with huge results but not a busy nights fishing with smaller stuff if you know what i mean.
Lately theres been those motocross motorbikes goin up and down because its at least a mile long and believe me you just want to pack up and go elsewhere , the locals go crazy about them.

Well done one the first bass of the year, not a bad one either, hope there are plenty more to come.
Species 2012:

Cod, Whiting, flounder, coalfish, bass, pollack, sea trout, poor cod, pouting, dogfish, sea scorpion, 3 bearded rockling, blonde ray, painted ray, turbot.
