bimini Twist.

Ok, about time i got around to learning this.

So I've found an excellant knot web site.

But what i want to know and i have tried serching through old posts is how do you attach the shockleader to this double?
I can see how certan knots will work but which is the best.

Scara,

Take the double line tie a small overhand knot about 1" from the loop end, make sure both long pieces are parallel together and then tie your normal leader knot into the shocker.

The overhand knot is just to keep both sides parallel while you tie the leader on, you will cut it off when you trim down anyway.

Its no different a method to joining a double line made with a spider hitch to your leader.

It makes for a better join because of the extra thickness from 70lb or 80lb down...if you get me :)

I can advise....the Bimini is a very slow knot to tie and IMHO is not that much better than a spider hitch :) half the time you cant get the thing off your shoe ha ha ha

Do you guys not think the Bimini is better because of the huge stretch factor? I find it a little bit better than the Spider twist for broken ground, when you can almost spring the trace out of a snag. Anyone expierence the same?

This was my main reason for wanting to learn it over the spider twist. It was explained to me that not only did you have very strong knot strength but that the bimini twist had natural elastisity making it a more forgiving knot to fish with.

Explain if im wrong.

Robert,

Your right it is far stronger and far more stretchy than the spider hitch.

The reason I stopped using it, the fecker wont break when you want it to, you end up walking that far away to snap your line, that you need to get the bus back :lol: :lol: :lol:

Sitting on a bus with a whip mark across the back of your neck after it hits you isn't fun either :lol: :lol: :lol:

Im a great fan of the Bimini, I use it for all my Fishing Leader applications.
Your right you know, Getting snagged with a Bimini can be a total nightmare!

Rig making instructions: Bimini knot.....Maxima line....cab fare :lol: :lol: :lol:

I used to use Maxima line when I first ever use the Bimini, can you imagine how far it stretched.....I used to fish rock marks mostly, you'd run out of rock, either than or it would snap when you weren't expecting it to and you nearly fell in to the water behind you. :cry: :cry: :cry:

I think it was designed by someone from P.E.T.A to get there own back on anglers :twisted:

I Have found it troublesome in weedy condition when it jams in the tip ring and all the coils collapse and will not pull back tidy.
Has anyone had this problem with the Bimini Twist?
I now use the Spider Hitch which does not slip when jammed with weed in the tip ring.

There was Bimini twisting all over the sitting room, shockleader clippings everywhere.....................the wife said she hoped i be as active tonight............I said I would at the end of Culdaff Pier.........luckily for me she thought I was joking before i realized todays valentines..........
