Heading out from wicklow harbour this weekend and Just wanted a few tips.

If been shore fishing for about 8 months and just wondered do i use the same rigs, weights ect......

any help would be appreciated
Species 2010.(2) Doggie, Cod
Species 2011.(12) Dab, Coalie, 5 Bearded Rockling, Whiting, Doggie, Pollock, Shanny/Common Blenny, Silver Eel, Mackerel, Wrasse, Sting Ray, Cod

Species 2012.(5) Sea Scorpion, Pollock, sand eel, mackerel, corkwing wrasse.

Hi chenz116, if you are heading out of Wicklow the main species there are tope, ray, smoothounds and of course dogfish. Unfortunately March is usually noted as being the worst time of year for boat angling and you are only likely to catch dogfish, dabs, whiting and maybe some codling. Tope, ray and smoothies start to appear from May on and good fishing can be had up till the end of October. If your heading out at this time of year similar rigs to what you use off the shore will work. Keep the hook sizes under 1/0 preferably size 2-4. Weights will have to be different as there are strong tides at Wicklow and you may need up to 1lb of lead to hold the bottom. Hope this helps.
